Walsall have made their 11th summer signing by bringing in Wales midfielder Charlie Crew from Premier League side Leeds United on a season-long loan.

Cardiff-born Crew, 20, was part of the Leeds first-team squad on their pre-season trip to the United States.

He began his career at his hometown club Cardiff before being signed by Leeds for an undisclosed fee in 2022 - and has since been loaned out twice to another Yorkshire side, Doncaster Rovers.

"I'm over the moon to join," said Crew. "And I just can't wait to get started."

Saddlers head coach Lee Grant said: "We've put a lot of work in to understanding Charlie both as a player and as a character and we are certain he will boost us on both fronts. He's shown a real maturity in our conversations.

"He has experience of a promotion in League Two as well as playing in the league above in his most recent loan spell. "

Walsall kick off the new domestic season with a Carabao Cup trip to Bristol City on Thursday night, before launching the new League Two season at Gillingham on Saturday week.
